Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy harnesses the healing properties in your dog's own blood to treat osteoarthritis, ligament/tendon injuries, and chronic pain. A veterinarian draws a small amount of blood and spins it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These platelets contain growth factors that stimulate tissue regeneration and repair.
The PRP is then injected into the affected joint, tendon, or area of injury. The concentrated growth factors recruit stem cells and promote new blood vessel development. This reduces pain and inflammation while accelerating healing.
Some key benefits of PRP include:
Non-surgical therapy for ligament/tendon tears like cruciate ligament injuries
Pain relief from osteoarthritis
Faster healing of cartilage, muscle, bone, and connective tissue
Improved mobility and function
Multiple PRP treatments may be recommended for maximum therapeutic effect. PRP has a very low risk of complications when performed properly. It offers a way to help pets suffering from mobility issues while avoiding or delaying surgery.
